Medical marijuana doctor for Zephyrhills patients
Zephyrhills patients come to our Temple Terrace office once for the in-person exam Florida requires. It is about 21 miles, roughly 30 minutes without traffic, almost entirely on US 301 south to Fowler Avenue. After that first visit, our physician can do renewal evaluations by telehealth, so later check-ins happen from home.

Is there a Zephyrhills office?
No. Our one office is in Temple Terrace, and all first exams happen there.
Zephyrhills is a city in eastern Pasco County. It is farther than Wesley Chapel, but the route is one of the simplest we list.
People sometimes assume east Pasco is too far for a Tampa-area practice. At about 21 miles, the trip is shorter than the drives from Lakeland, St. Petersburg, or Clearwater.
What is the route from Zephyrhills?
Take US 301, known as Gall Boulevard in town, south out of Zephyrhills. Stay on US 301 for about 15 miles into Hillsborough County.
Turn west on Fowler Avenue (State Road 582) and drive about four miles, crossing I-75. Turn north on North 56th Street to East 131st Avenue.
We measured about 21 miles and roughly 30 minutes with open roads. Most of it is a two-road trip, which many patients find easier than the interstate.
- From the west side of Zephyrhills: State Road 54 west to I-75 south, then exit at Fowler Avenue and go west, is another choice.
- Allow extra time on weekday mornings as traffic builds closer to Fowler Avenue.
Why is one in-person visit required?
It is set by Florida law. Before an initial certification, the physician must do an in-person physical exam, meaning the physician is physically in the same room as the patient.
Bring a valid Florida license or ID and any records about your condition, such as a specialist's notes or imaging reports.
How do telehealth renewals help Zephyrhills patients?
A round trip is more than 40 miles. For patients who find long drives hard, video renewals can make the difference in staying current.
Telehealth is allowed only for renewals: a physician who already certified the patient after an in-person physical exam may do that patient's later exams and re-evaluations by telehealth.
You need a re-evaluation at least once every 30 weeks. It can be done by video as long as our physician is the one who certified you in person.
What is it like to drive US 301 to the office?
US 301 is a steady highway with far fewer lanes to merge across than I-75. Drivers who dislike interstate traffic often find it more relaxed.
Closer to the office it reaches the busier area around Fowler Avenue. Give yourself a few extra minutes if the road is new to you.
If your home is on the western edge of the city, the interstate route through State Road 54 and I-75 may be a few minutes faster. Whichever road you pick, this is a one-time drive for most patients.
Can someone help me if I can't manage the process alone?
Florida allows a registered caregiver in some cases. A caregiver must be a Florida resident age 21 or older, agree in writing to help, complete a state caregiver course (renewed every two years), pass a background screening unless a close relative of the patient, hold a caregiver ID card, and generally assist only one patient. A caregiver cannot be a qualified physician or have ties to a dispensary, and may not be paid beyond actual expenses.
Ask us at your first visit if you think you may need one. The caregiver applies separately with the state.
Common questions.
Do I have to drive from Zephyrhills for every visit?
No. Only the first exam must be in person in Temple Terrace. After that, Florida lets the same physician do your renewal evaluations by telehealth.
How long is the drive from Zephyrhills?
About 21 miles, roughly 30 minutes without traffic. Most people take US 301 south to Fowler Avenue, then west to North 56th Street.
Is a Pasco County resident allowed to use your Hillsborough office?
Yes. Florida's medical marijuana program is statewide, so you can see any qualified physician in the state.
Can a family member drive me and help with the paperwork?
Anyone can drive you to the visit. To buy or give medical marijuana for you, a helper must be a registered caregiver, which has its own state requirements.
