Medical marijuana doctor for Wesley Chapel patients
Wesley Chapel patients see our physician at our Temple Terrace office, about 13 miles south, or roughly 20 minutes without traffic by I-75 and Fletcher Avenue. Florida requires the first certification exam in person. After that, renewals can usually be handled by telehealth, which saves the trip across the Pasco-Hillsborough line.

Is there an office in Wesley Chapel?
No. Our one office is in Temple Terrace, in Hillsborough County. Wesley Chapel patients drive south for the first visit.
Wesley Chapel is an unincorporated community in Pasco County, and I-75 runs right through it. That makes it one of the quicker trips to our office from outside Hillsborough.
Which way should I drive from Wesley Chapel?
Get on I-75 south from State Road 56. Stay on I-75 for about nine miles and exit at Fletcher Avenue, where Morris Bridge Road also meets the interstate.
Drive west on Fletcher Avenue for about two miles to North 56th Street. Turn south, and East 131st Avenue comes up in a few blocks.
We measured about 13 miles and roughly 20 minutes with light traffic. Southbound I-75 gets busy on weekday mornings, so an afternoon slot may be easier.
- From the State Road 54 side of Wesley Chapel: reach I-75 south at State Road 54 and follow the same route.
- If Bruce B. Downs Boulevard is closer to you: take it south to Fletcher Avenue, then east to North 56th Street.
Why can't the first visit be online?
Florida law does not allow it. Before an initial certification, the physician must do an in-person physical exam, meaning the physician is physically in the same room as the patient.
The good news for Wesley Chapel is that this rule only applies once. Plan for one trip to Temple Terrace with your ID and any medical records.
How do telehealth renewals work for Pasco patients?
Telehealth is allowed only for renewals: a physician who already certified the patient after an in-person physical exam may do that patient's later exams and re-evaluations by telehealth. Living in Pasco County does not change that.
Renewals come due at least once every 30 weeks. Each video visit spares you roughly 26 miles of round-trip driving.
Is Wesley Chapel closer than it looks on a map?
Often, yes. Even though you cross into another county, the drive we measured was about the same length as the trip from downtown Tampa, and a few minutes shorter.
That is because I-75 carries you almost the whole way. Fletcher Avenue then takes you straight to North 56th Street with only a short stretch of local driving.
Patients who live in the newer neighborhoods along State Road 56 usually have the shortest trip. Those farther east or north should add a few minutes to reach I-75.
Does it matter that I live in Pasco and the office is in Hillsborough?
No. The medical marijuana program and the ID card are run by the state, not by counties. Medical Marijuana Use Registry (MMUR), run by the Florida Department of Health, Office of Medical Marijuana Use records are statewide.
Your eligibility depends on your condition and Florida residency. Adults prove Florida residency with a valid Florida driver license or Florida ID card. Seasonal residents without one may submit two proof-of-address documents (such as a lease, deed, recent utility bill, or recent government or bank mail). Minors submit a birth certificate or Florida K-12 school record plus a parent or guardian's Florida license or ID.
Common questions.
How long is the drive from Wesley Chapel to your office?
About 13 miles, or roughly 20 minutes without traffic. The usual route is I-75 south to Fletcher Avenue, west to North 56th Street, then a short way south to East 131st Avenue.
Do I have to drive down from Wesley Chapel for every visit?
Only the first time. After our physician examines you in person, Florida allows your renewal evaluations to be done by telehealth.
Can a Pasco County resident use an office in Hillsborough County?
Yes. Florida's medical marijuana program is statewide, so the county you live in does not limit which qualified physician you see.
Is Wesley Chapel closer to you than Land O' Lakes?
Slightly, by our measurement: about 13 miles from Wesley Chapel versus about 14 from Land O' Lakes. Wesley Chapel drivers also use the interstate most of the way, so the trip is usually a bit quicker.
Is there a better time of day to make the trip?
Southbound I-75 is usually heaviest on weekday mornings. If your schedule allows, a midday or early-afternoon appointment is often an easier drive.
