Medical marijuana doctor for Clearwater patients
Clearwater patients make one trip to our Temple Terrace office for the in-person exam that Florida requires. It is about 34 miles, roughly 55 minutes without traffic, by State Road 60 over the Courtney Campbell Causeway, then I-275 north. After that, our physician can do renewals by telehealth, so you avoid the causeway on later visits.

Does Horizon Releaf have a Clearwater office?
No. Our only office is in Temple Terrace, across Old Tampa Bay in Hillsborough County.
Clearwater is the county seat of Pinellas County, and it is one of the farthest places we list. We include it because the drive is a one-time trip for most patients.
How do I get to Temple Terrace from Clearwater?
Head east on Gulf to Bay Boulevard, which is State Road 60. It becomes the Courtney Campbell Causeway and crosses Old Tampa Bay into Tampa.
On the Tampa side, State Road 60 turns into Memorial Highway. Follow signs to I-275 north, take the Fowler Avenue exit, and go east to North 56th Street, then north to East 131st Avenue.
We measured about 34 miles and roughly 55 minutes on open roads. Both the causeway and I-275 slow down at rush hour.
- The route we measured from the city center starts east on Drew Street, then joins Gulf to Bay Boulevard.
- Some drivers prefer the Howard Frankland Bridge on I-275; check a live map on the day of your visit.
Why must I come in person the first time?
It is Florida law. Before an initial certification, the physician must do an in-person physical exam, meaning the physician is physically in the same room as the patient.
Bring your Florida ID and any records about your condition. That way one trip is enough.
How do telehealth renewals help from Clearwater?
A round trip across the bay is close to 70 miles. For many Clearwater patients, avoiding that drive is the main reason telehealth matters.
Telehealth is allowed only for renewals: a physician who already certified the patient after an in-person physical exam may do that patient's later exams and re-evaluations by telehealth.
A renewal is needed at least once every 30 weeks. You join a video visit from home, and the physician updates your certification in the state registry.
Video visits also mean no causeway delays and no hunting for a parking spot. You can take the call from home or another private place.
Is the causeway or the Howard Frankland better from Clearwater?
From central and north Clearwater, the Courtney Campbell Causeway is usually more direct. It lands you near the Tampa airport area, a short run from I-275 north.
If you live in the southern part of the city, reaching I-275 and the Howard Frankland Bridge can make sense. Traffic on the day matters more than the map, so check a live route before you leave.
Either way, the last part of the trip is the same: I-275 north, Fowler Avenue east, and North 56th Street to our door.
I live in Clearwater only part of the year. What do I need?
The program is only for Florida residents. Adults prove Florida residency with a valid Florida driver license or Florida ID card. Seasonal residents without one may submit two proof-of-address documents (such as a lease, deed, recent utility bill, or recent government or bank mail). Minors submit a birth certificate or Florida K-12 school record plus a parent or guardian's Florida license or ID.
Florida does not accept out-of-state medical marijuana cards.
